Australia

There are so many mixed emotions when I think of Australia. This continent will always have a spot in my heart. Not because it’s the farthest country I have been to, but because there are so many things I did for the first time. As a single backpacker, today I would think I am a loca** person for heading to a country with no hotel book or activity planned. Back then in 2011, Australia was catering to the backpacker population and I had no problem finding a place to stay right from the airport. I spent a few days in Sydney then I booked a few activities. I remember there were so many travel agencies at that time and they were able to make an itinerary for me. Lol at the end of the trip I was $7000 in debt but I would still do the same thing if I had the chance to change anything.
The $7000 includes flights, food, itinerary and transportation. The adventures I tried in Australia were snorkelling and scuba diving for the first time, hiking, sailing and road trips with strangers.

Stay:
I stayed in various hostels throughout the country

Whitsunday Islands

Activities:
hike the blue mountain
Take a road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne
Spend the day in Bondi Beach
Walk around Sydney city
Snorkel around the Great Barrier reef
Learn about the Aboriginal culture
Take sailing tour
Visit the Sydney aquarium

Kangaroo farm
Blue Mountain
Snorkelling

Eat: try kangaroo or crocodiles

They say everything tastes either chicken or beef

Although I travelled alone I never felt alone. I met wonderful people that made this trip a wonderful experience. Of course, I could not travel so far only to visit one country. I will see you at the new Zealand blog post.
